What is buscopan Plus used to treat?

Buscopan relieves painful stomach cramps, including those linked with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). It can also help bladder cramps and period pain. Buscopan contains the active ingredient hyoscine butylbromide.

Is buscopan plus drowsy?

Use of Buscopan Plus Tablet may cause symptoms such as dizziness, drowsiness, blurred vision, etc. It is advised that you do not perform activities such as driving vehicles or operating machines if you experience any of these symptoms during treatment with this medicine.

Is buscopan a painkiller?

Buscopan is a drug that is used to relieve pain caused by smooth muscle spasms. It relieves stomach, intestine, bladder, and ureter cramps. It's also used to treat irritable bowel syndrome symptoms (symptoms include abdominal pain, cramping, bloating, and diarrhoea or constipation).

Who should not take buscopan?

Do not take BUSCOPAN Tablets if:

  • You are allergic (hypersensitive) to hyoscine butylbromide or any of the other ingredients (listed in section 6)
  • You have glaucoma (an eye problem)
  • You have something called 'myasthenia gravis' (a very rare muscle weakness problem)
  • You have a suspected or confirmed blockage of the bowel.

Antispasmodics such as mebeverine hydrochloride or hyoscine butylbromide (Buscopan®), and herbal solutions such as Iberogast®, may be helpful.
